Kept lively, humming – to edit in movement between page and place
Workshops with Corin Sworn & Jude Browning
July–August 2025

Sharing of work in progress: Friday 8th August, 6:30–8pm

Moving material from one milieu to another can reveal procedures implicit in context and relation – we propose these as conversational dynamics. By imagining movement between page and site of utterance through the entanglements of friendship we will explore timbres in delivery as they shift to meet assumed publics. We will engage; the intimate exchange, the amplified revelation, an amicable cacophony of materials, as well as neoliberal forms of administrative mapping such as receipts, prescriptions, and release forms.

Bring something you are presently working on and would like to see anew; or arrive ready for text-generating exercises and an interest in taking written material apart through active sounding in space, recording, and contextual incision.

Using techniques drawn from visual scores and collage, we’ll explore disruptions to mapping and designation; and potential for attuned movement within these. We will combine performance techniques and writing exercises in quick sessions that invite you to edit and reassemble. In doing so we’ll look at scores by Raven Chacon, the Halprin’s RSVP Cycles, and texts by Will Alexander, Susan Howe, Verity Spott, and Holly Pester.

Sessions are: 10:30am–1pm, 25th of July and 10:30am–1pm, 1st of August. Participants are invited to share their work at an event from 6–8pm on the 8th of August, the format of this event can be shaped in conversation with what is most useful for those involved.
