Studio Residency 2025

Studio Residency 2025

June – September 2025

Studio Residency 2025

David Dale Gallery are very excited to announce the return of our Studio Residency. We will be welcoming one Glasgow-based artist to use our gallery space as a studio from June to September 2025.

This residency is part of David Dale Gallery’s continuing commitment to exploring new ways in which we can further support artist development and provide space for research and experimentation for artists based in Glasgow.

Residency Format:

The studio residency will take place in the gallery for a duration of ten weeks from 30th June – 7th September. The studio resident will have 24-hour access to the studio in order to accommodate pre-existing commitments. The residency is intended as a production and research residency, and as such there will be no expected outcomes.

On selection, there will be an announcement of the studio resident on the DDG website, social media and newsletter ahead of the start of the residency period. There are no other expectations to share work publicly, however if they wish, the artist will have the opportunity to feed into the events programme and will be invited to participate within an open studio event at the end of the residency. We will also work with the studio resident to organise studio visits during the residency period.

Selection Process:

We welcome applications from Glasgow-based artists from all backgrounds and contemporary art disciplines. We will not be accepting applications from those studying in formal higher education at the time of the residency.

The selection will be completed by the organisation and guest panel Moira Salt (artist and previous Studio Resident) and Mason Leaver-Yap (writer and curator) in the week following the application closing date.

During our selection process we will aim to consider all applications fairly and impartially, based on the individual merit of their content – we will not appraise any resources related to applicants that are not included within their application.

When reviewing all applications we will consider the quality, the contemporary relevance and critical integrity of the work presented and the applicant’s overall working practice. We will consider the applicant’s potential for benefitting from the opportunity – both economically and in terms of the progression of their practice through exposure to both DDG’s local and international network and audience – as well as their intention and need for the use of a physical residency space.

We particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented in the cultural sector including disabled people, people from the Global Majority, individuals who identify as working class and those who have caring responsibilities, as part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
