Giuseppe Mistretta lives and works in Glasgow. He graduated in 2011 from Masters of Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art. Recent projects include: Split, Arratia, Beer and Sommer & Kohl, Berlin 2011; Scan Chant, presented by Psykick Dancehall and part of Embassy Annuale, Edinburgh, 2011; Garage 2.0, Kuenstlerhaus Dortmund, 2011; Correction, CCA Book Fair, Glasgow (with Alex Impey); The Centre for Physical Geography, Victor & Hester, Glasgow. Mistretta has also contributed to the new issue ofgnommero-exactitude (edited by Sarah Tripp) and has an upcoming project with Victor and Hester at g39, Cardiff, October 2011.
Mistretta is attracted to the sound of words that don’t make sense, the look of the moon in the daytime and the similarities between humans and animals.
For The Event, Mistretta will present new video work which depicts the managing committee of David Dale Gallery & Studios playing out a linguistic task set out by the artist.
